Recipe for whole chicken please?

Bung in a tray, pot or a slo cooker. Throw some spuds, halved or quartered around it. Cut veg, carrots, parsnips, swede, red onion etc into good sized chunks (about the size of the spuds) Throw in a can of soup, mushroom, chicken or veg and allow 20 mins for every 1lb of chicken at 180deg. 1 teaspoon of curry powder (optional) gives it an interesting flavour, but not hot. lt`s that simple, Roast veggies are my fav. Cuts out all the washing up of saucepans too! Did it today. Easy pea-see, enjoy!Recipe for whole chicken please?
Ingredients

1 lemon, halved

1 chicken, weighing about 1.3kg

2 Onions, chopped

Olive oil

salt and fresh ground black pepper

To serve:

bread sauce

Crisp Roast Potatoes

Carrots Vichy

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas 4.

2. Tuck the lemon halves inside the chicken. Scatter the onions over the base of a roasting pan in which the chicken will fit snugly.

3. Place the chicken in the pan. Smear all over with olive oil. Season with salt and pepper, rubbing it into the skin well.

4. Turn the chicken on its side so the leg is uppermost and roast for 30 minutes. Turn onto the other side and roast for a further 30 minutes.

5. Turn the chicken breast side up and cook for 25-30 minutes more, or until the juices run clear when the thickest part of the leg is pierced with a skewer.

6. Transfer to a warmed serving dish and leave to rest in a warm place for 10 minutes before carving.

7. Serve the chicken with Bread Sauce, Crisp Roast Potatoes and Carrots Vichy.
if u want to put it in the oven then u are roasting it! put a bed of raw vegetables on the base of a baking tray, put chicken on top so its not touching the base of the tray, brush the skin with oil, and sprinkle over a chicken flavoured oxo cube. oven temp should be about 180 or gas mark 5, leave for an hour, then check on it and rotate the baking tray for even cooking. how long it needs til it is cooked depends on the size of it, but a medium size takes approx 2 and a half hours. just make sure the juices run clear and there is no pink colour remaining inside the thickest part of the chicken, u can either eat the roasted vegetables, or chuck them out if u dont like them. but u will be left with all the chicken juices at bottom of the tray to make a gravy
Really, if you want less hassle and have a whole chicken, the easiest thing by far is to roast it!

Just stick it in the oven for 20 minutes per pound plus 20 minutes on gas mark 6-7 (electric 200-220) - check it half way, tip it up %26amp; slurp the juice from the roasting tin over the chicken - and that's it.

If you WANTED to you could stuff it - then it takes a bit longer to roast.

Just steam the veg - new potatoes, carrots, baby corn - all take about 20-25 minutes.
okay here we go:

Firstly: ';Throwing it in the oven'; will actually give the end result of roasting it lol so i assum you actually do want to do that?

These are the times for a large ish chicken...

Pre heat oven to 200 degrees.

Place chicken in roasting tin upside down and roast for one hour.

Take chicken out turn right side up and add potatoes (see below) and roast for another hour.

Get some ';old potatoes'; peel and cut into right size. add to the tray and bake.

That is pretty fool proof.

And dude, the crispy skin is the best bit!!!!
Turn the entire chicken upside down (head cavity) over an open tall can of beer (with beer still in it), rub the skin with olive oil and season. I like onion/garlic/pepper and sea salt. Bake approx 1 hour at 375 degrees. Skin will be crisp and brown the beer will have seasoned your meat....enjoy
Do just that, but make a foil tent around it and cook 45 min at 375 breast side down. after that turn it up to broil turn the chicken breast side up and cook until its browned. It won't be gross with the skin on.
Here is a suggestions for oven:

just season the chicken then put it in an oven bag put in dish then put it a fan forced oven 150 degrees for 1 and a half hours
Leave the skin on - it will be fine. I dont know about the veg with it, I would roast them in another pan. They might end up too greasy.
