Does anyone have a recipe for a slow cooked chicken rogan josh?

I found this on the net...it had good ratings.

In Madhur Jaffery's Indian Cookery, lamb or beef was recommended but I have done it with chicken before now, and it was just as nice.

4-6 servings 2陆 hours 30 min prep





2 1/2 cm fresh ginger, peeled and coarsely chopped


8 garlic cloves, peeled


4 tablespoons water


275-425 ml water


10 tablespoons vegetable oil


1 kg boneless lamb shoulder or stewing beef or diced chicken


10 whole cardamom pods


2 bay leaves


6 whole cloves


10 whole peppercorns


2 1/2 cm cinnamon sticks


4 medium onions, peeled and finely chopped


1 teaspoon ground coriander


2 teaspoons cumin seeds


4 teaspoons paprika


1 teaspoon cayenne pepper


1 teaspoon salt


6 tablespoons plain yogurt


1/4 teaspoon garam masala


fresh ground pepper

Indian


Put the ginger, garlic, and 4 tablespoons of water into the blender. Blend well until you have a smooth paste.


Heat oil in a wide heavy pot over a medium heat, brown the meat cubes in serveral batches and set to one side.


Put the cardamom, bay leaves, cloves, peppercons and cinnamon into the same hot oil. stir once and wait until the cloves swell and the bay leaves begin to take on colour.


Now put in the onions. Stir and fry for 5 minutes until they turn a medium brown colour.


Put in the ginger garlic paste and stir for 30 seconds.


Add the coriander, cumin, paprika-cayenne, and salt. Stir and fry for 30 seconds.


Add the fried meat cubes and juices.


Stir for 30 seconds, now add 1 tablespoon of yoghurt, stir until well blended .


Add the remaining yoghurt, a tablespoon at a time in the same way. Stir and fry for another 3 minutes.


Now add 275ml of water if your cooking lamb or chicken and 425ml of water if your cooking beef. Bring to the boil, scraping all the browned spices off the sides and bottom of the pot. Cover and cook on low for an hour if your cooking chicken or lamb and 2 hours if cooking beef, (or until meat is tender.).


Every 10 minutes give the meat a good stir. When the meat is tender take off the lid, turn the heat up to medium, and boil away some of the liquid.


All the fat that collects in the pot may be spooned off the top.


Sprinkle the garam masala and black pepper over the meat before you serve and mix them inches.Does anyone have a recipe for a slow cooked chicken rogan josh?

INGREDIENTS


2/3 cup sour cream


1 tablespoon all-purpose flour


1/2 teaspoon chili powder


1 teaspoon ground coriander


1/2 teaspoon ground ginger


2 cubes chicken bouillon


4 whole cardamom pods, broken


1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes


1 cup water


ground nutmeg to taste


salt and ground black pepper to taste


2 tablespoons cornstarch


1/4 cup water


1 large onion, cut into wedges


3 lamb shanks


1 (15 ounce) can carrots, drained


1 (15 ounce) can whole new potatoes, drained


1/2 pound button mushrooms, quartered (optional)





DIRECTIONS


Stir the sour cream and all-purpose flour together in a small bowl until smooth and set aside. In a separate small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water to make a paste.


Combine the chili powder, coriander, ginger, bouillon cubes, cardamom, tomatoes, water, nutmeg, salt and pepper in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil over high heat. Slowly add the cornstarch paste to the tomato mixture, stirring constantly; simmer for 2 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat and slowly stir in the sour cream and flour mixture.


Arrange the onions across the bottom of a slow cooker, lay the shanks on top of the onions and pour the prepared tomato mixture over the meat. Place the carrots, potatoes and mushrooms on top of the sauce.


Cover and cook in the slow cooker on High for 8 hours.


If cooking in the oven, bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) in a covered dish for 2 1/2 hours.Does anyone have a recipe for a slow cooked chicken rogan josh?
Leave it in the fridge overnight before you cook it. That way the chicken will absorb all the curry paste. Tikka Masalla is much better!
Crock Pot Rogan Josh





1 lb sliced boneless chicken breasts or thighs


1 large onion, fairly thinly sliced


3 garlic cloves, sliced


3 tablespoons rogan josh curry paste


1 (14 ounce) can plum tomatoes


1 tablespoon mango chutney


2 tablespoons creamed coconut


6 ounces small mushrooms, quartered


3 tablespoons canola oil


1 1/2 cups hot chicken broth











1. Brown onions in frying pan using canola oil.


2. Add garlic and fry for further 3 minutes.


3. add curry paste and fry off for 2 minutes.


4. place mixture into crock pot.


5. deglaze pan with broth and add to crock pot.


6. add rest of ingredients except mushrooms and cook on high 2 hours and low for 6-8 hours depending on your crock pot


7. Add mushrooms and check seasoning and cook on high for further 1/2 hour.


8. Skim off excess fat before serving.
ewww curry is terrible
